'The Flash' Movie Director Announced

The Flash director is none other than... (drum roll please)

Seth Grahame-Smith!

(crickets)

Okay you know him better as the best selling author of 'Abraham Lincoln': Vampire Hunter and 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.'

For those of us who loved The Flash as children and whett our whistles on the new TV show airing tomorrow night on the CW, the announcement of a director for the much talked about movie is pure joy! But the announcement of Grahame-Smith to snap the directoral reigns has some fans taking the needle off the record.

The exculusive story from the Hollywood Reporter hit Reddit pages with record speed where fans seem to be cautiously optomistic.

Having a novelist turned screenwriter make his directoral debut on a character as popular as The Flash could be devastating. It doesn't matter how smart and creative you are when you are putting it on paper, there is a different skillset behind the camera.

Just ask Stephen King who's directoral debut was the 1986 movie Maximum Overdrive. Yeah I know you've never heard of it. The dead body still wreaks to high heaven it was so bad.

Initially Phil Lord and Chris Miller were slated to make The Flash, but Disney has them busy working on a Star Wars Han Solo movie. Redditors are calling it Disney/Marvel sabatoge to keep The Flash/Justiceleague/DC from grabbing Lord and Miller, who created The highly successful Lego Movie.

It's also important to note that Grahame-Smith is still in negotiations and the whole thing can still fall apart, but it's hard for a budding director to turn down that first big offer. But no crying yet! There is a sliver lining to this cloud.

Grahame-Smith directed two episodes of 'The Hard times of RJ berger,' an MTV comedy he created with producing partner David Katzenberg. That's right folks, Grahame-Smith's producing partner is non other than the son of Dreamworks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg. Whose business partner is STEPHEN SPEILBERG, the greatest director of all time! So, that makes 'The Flash' debut director two steps removed from Mr. Speilberg. We might just have something here!

Wait, with that logic, he's only one step removed from the former chairman of The Walt Disney Studios (Jeffrey Katzenberg 1984 to 1994). Could the Redditors be right about Disney/Marvel? Dum duh duh dum!
